Merivaara Participates in Presidential Delegation to Kenya and Tanzania

Merivaara had the honour of joining the official business delegation accompanying the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb and his wife Suzanne Innes-Stubb, on their first state visit to Kenya and Tanzania. The visit, organized in cooperation with Business Finland and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, aimed to deepen diplomatic and business ties between Finland and East African nations.

    Supporting Healthcare Development Across Africa

Our Regional Sales Manager for East & West Africa and Egypt, Kigen Mong’ony, had the honour of participating in this impactful journey. As part of the visit, Kigen contributed to a high-level panel on the transformative journey of Kenya’s healthcare sector. Merivaara was selected to represent the Finnish healthcare sector as part of the delegation, which included leading Finnish companies from health technology, ICT, and energy industries. The delegation reflects Finland’s strategic push to support innovation and sustainable development in rapidly growing African economies.

Kigen Mong’ony, was honoured to contribute to a high-level panel discussion on Kenya’s evolving healthcare system.

"Honored to have contributed to the panel on the transformative journey of Kenya’s healthcare sector this week as part of the delegation accompanying H.E. President Alexander Stubb of Finland. It was a privilege to share insights and engage in meaningful dialogue alongside an inspiring group of experts and leaders across diverse sectors," Mong’ony commented.

The panel brought together key stakeholders from government, business, and civil society to discuss healthcare investments, digital transformation, and cross-border collaboration in healthcare delivery.

    Continuing the Mission in Tanzania

From Kenya, the delegation continued to Tanzania, where the mission remained focused on building strong business relationships and identifying opportunities for Finnish companies to contribute to national development goals.

“One of the objectives of this trip is to support Finnish companies in the East African market,” said President Stubb. “I’m joined by Finnish businesses from sectors such as healthcare, ICT, and energy. The economies of Kenya and Tanzania are growing, their populations are young, and their geographic positions are strategic. There are many opportunities.”

Merivaara views Tanzania as an important partner in its mission to enhance healthcare infrastructure across Africa. The visit allowed for meaningful exchanges with healthcare leaders, ministry officials, and local stakeholders about the country’s current needs and ambitions in medical technology.

A Strong Commitment to Africa’s Healthcare Future

With deepening ties across East and West Africa and a presence already established in several key markets, Merivaara remains committed to advancing safe, efficient, and patient-centered healthcare environments through innovative solutions and collaborative partnerships.

This presidential visit reaffirmed Merivaara’s role not only as a medical technology provider, but as a long-term strategic partner in shaping the future of healthcare in Africa.
